Recorded and released in 2010, Zebrina's debut album features an all-star Toronto lineup, including Jonathan Kay on clarinet and saxophones, Joel Schwartz on electric guitar and mandolin, Jon Feldman on Rhodes and keyboards, Bret Higgins on electric bass, Colin Kingsmore on drums, and Max Senitt on percussion. A fusion of klezmer with jazz, rock, reggae, funk, and other influences. The music recalls the time of Abraham and Sarah when they were living in the land of Canaan. Zebrina's sophomore effort, the album was released on John Zorn's Tzadik Records. The band this time features San Francisco-based Ben Goldberg on clarinet, with Max Senitt this time moving to drums and Juan Carlos Medrano (from Columbia) on percussion. Eight new tracks continuing to fuse klezmer with jazz, rock, and the avant garde. John Zorn meets Miles Davis' Bitches Brew, with the spirit of a jam by Medeski, Martin, & Wood.
