Recorded and released in 2010, Zebrina's debut album features an all-star Toronto lineup, including Jonathan Kay on clarinet and saxophones, Joel Schwartz on electric guitar and mandolin, Jon Feldman on Rhodes and keyboards, Bret Higgins on electric bass, Colin Kingsmore on drums, and Max Senitt on percussion. A fusion of klezmer with jazz, rock, reggae, funk, and other influences. The music recalls the time of Abraham and Sarah when they were living in the land of Canaan. This is an original pressing with limited availability.
Zebrina's sophomore effort, the album was released on John Zorn's Tzadik Records. The band this time features San Francisco-based Ben Goldberg on clarinet, with Max Senitt this time moving to drums and Juan Carlos Medrano (from Columbia) on percussion. Eight new tracks continuing to fuse klezmer with jazz, rock, and the avant garde. John Zorn meets Miles Davis' Bitches Brew, with the spirit of a jam by Medeski, Martin, & Wood.
Formed in 2016, the Electric Band is a groove-based jazz fusion band, consisting of electric guitar, Fender Rhodes, electric bass, and drums, augmented by trumpet on select tracks. A stellar Toronto lineup with special guest Kevin Turcotte on trumpet and Eric St-Laurent on electric guitar.
A collaborative effort, this straight-ahead jazz album features 6 standards interpreted in trio format with trumpet, acoustic piano, and upright bass. Recorded only a couple of months before Covid 19 hit, the album is relaxed and fresh. Recorded in an intimate setting at Forest Hill Grove Studios in Toronto, ON.
